ND Lottery Turns Three!

It s been over three years since North Dakotans went to the polls and okayed the establishment of a lottery in the state That move has proven to be a successful one as the state celebrates the three year anniversary of the lottery this month Then state representative Andrew Maragos did much of the legwork getting the issue to the ballot and he says he s thrilled with the way the state has embraced the game Sales over the three years total more than 63-million dollars more than three times the amount estimated at the time it started but there was good reason for that low estimate Andrew Maragos - Former Legislator The revenues were projected low because we wanted to make sure we didn t expect more money than we actually got Now they can plug those numbers in because they have their experiences It might level off a bit that is what people want to do with their dollar That is what they buy a dollar dream There is only one thing left for the lottery to do now and that is to find a North Dakotan to win the jackpot Maragos says he s also pleased with the low amount of problem gambling that has taken place since the lottery came to the state He says the game doesn t lend itself to problem gambling like casinos can
